# Copy and Paste

> Share clipboard values between web tests in the same Resume From session chain.

Web tests can copy a value in one test and paste it in a later test when both share the same browser session through a [Resume From](/core-concepts/dependencies#resume-from) dependency.

## When to use clipboard

| **How received** | Clipboard is pre-populated when the dependent test starts |

Use clipboard when:

* Copying and pasting within the same browser session chain
* Transferring a short value (verification code, invite link text) between sequential tests that resume the same session

## Example

1. Test A logs in and copies a verification code to the clipboard.
2. Test B uses a Resume From dependency on Test A.
3. Test B pastes the verification code. The same browser session restores the clipboard automatically.

## Clipboard vs output values

For IDs, URLs, or data that must cross applications or separate browser sessions, use [output values](/core-concepts/dependencies#data-sharing-between-tests) with a Wait For dependency instead. Clipboard does not travel across sessions.
